Ladies Glycine Diamonds and Rubies

Founded by Eugene Meylan, Glycine has been manufacturing watches since 1914 in their factory located in Bienne, Switzerland. Meylan, because of his love of precision and accuracy, strove for
perfection because, he was an uncompromising engineer at heart. He was in the forefront of small, precise movements for ladies wristwatches. The company's tenacity paired with its precise and reliable products allowed them to become a well-respected name in the Swiss watchmaking industry to this very day.

Glycine is a name that is not well known in America, but it is a Swiss Brand that is well known in Europe and South America. Their quality is solid and their design second to none. Witness this beautiful Ladies Glycine that is artfully studded with rubies and diamonds that are set into a solid rose gold case. It is stunning! The seventeen jewel movement is in great shape, winding, setting, and keeping time just as it did when it arrived on these shores from across the pond. Today, we would call this style "retro", but it was certainly high fashion back in the day. The solid rose gold case measures 14mm wide, by 45mm lug to lug, by 7.5mm thick (including the crystal). It sports a gold rope (square form) link bracelet that just sets off the watch head perfectly. We know when it was made, and for whom, since there is a dedication on the reverse which states "Rubin to Idell 3-15-42". We love these clues to its original owner and think that they add to its history.

A few years ago, we had a couple purchase a watch with a dedication on the back and they loved it so much that they used the original owner's names as code names for each other. So, your adopted names could now be Rubin & Idell, if you step up and purchase this wonderful watch!
