18K Grand Prix "Splayed Numeral"

"Once in a while, even a blind squirrel finds a nut." At least, that's what my grandfather used to say. The longer I live, the more I find that there is some truth to that old axiom. Such was the case the day I found this fantastic Swiss "Splayed Numeral" Art Deco Wristwatch, circa 1916. It has a wonderful "tonneau" case, all in 18K solid gold and it lays across your wrist like an ergonomic piece of art. The
sheer size of the watch was unusual, even at that time, and when you see the presence it has on the wrist, you will be drawn to the siren's song like Ulysses. The background color of the dial mimics that of the case while the splayed numerals have aged to a very mellow gold color that just reeks of the golden age. The skeletonized hands are also filled with ancient lume that has perfectly aged to that wonderful color. It is a good size, measuring 31mm wide (at its widest), by a whopping 48mm lug to lug, by an impressive 9mm thick (including the crystal). It is fitted with a solid gold, mesh band that has an infinitely adjustable clasp to perfectly fit your wrist. When you peek into the movement, you will see that it is a fifteen jewel that was the Gran Prix winner in Berne, Switzerland Circa 1916 and our watchmakers having it winding, running, and keeping time just as it did during the first World War. This is such an unusual looking watch and a prize winner to boot. Don't miss it. We only have one!
